Urban City Dance is incredibly proud to announce an outstanding 1st place finish at the GDO World Championships, marking a defining milestone for our dancers, coaches, and the wider Urban City Dance community.
Earlier this year, both of our competitive dance troupes, FNSHLINE and DVSN qualified separately for the GDO World Championships, each earning their place through hard work, commitment, and standout performances. As the season progressed, a strategic decision was made to combine the two teams for the World Championships, bringing together the strongest dancers from both troupes to create one powerful, unified team.
Representing Crawley and East Grinstead, this newly formed collective then began an intense and focused six-month journey of growth and refinement. Finally bringing together the right combination of dancers, the team committed fully to the process, pushing boundaries, tightening choreography, elevating performance quality, and building the unity required to compete at the highest level. This dedication allowed the team to reach the standard we always knew was possible.
With months of preparation behind them and the right team firmly in place, the dancers stepped onto the world stage confident, focused, and ready.
The GDO World Championships, held near Gatwick, Sussex, welcomed an exceptional level of talent. Across the weekend, 150 teams and more than 2,200 dancers competed, making every performance fiercely contested. Urban City Dance Competing and winning on home soil made the achievement even more special.
Alongside the combined team performance, Urban City Dance was also represented in solo categories, where our dancers delivered strong performances and achieved excellent results. However, the defining highlight of the weekend was without question the combined FNSHLINE x DVSN team being crowned 1st place in their category.
